This was a 2-hour symposium that explored the use of positive incentives as an aid to treatment of substance abuse
and other behavioral health disorders.The four speakers covered critical areas of concern to military behavioral
health. They demonstrated how incentives have been used to improve outcomes in substance abuse treatment
and highlighted recent advances in use of positive incentive techniques. Conference attendeescame away with
basic principles in the use of these interventions, an appreciation of their effectiveness and fresh ideas on how incentives
could be utilized in the current behavioral health environment.
